The Sunset Sessions re-visits an era when craftsmanship, artistic freedom and authenticity was valued. To reignite the unique California lifestyle, fashions of the 60s-90s and celebrate the soul of magical sessions with boards & bikes, canvases & instruments, or simply the magic of friends on memorable days.
The Sunset Sessions was initially a stony vision of a native fifth generation Californian—born and raised snowboarding the Sierras, surfing the coastline, skateboarding and exploring the Central Valley desert; who traveled passionately in pursuit of professional artistic opportunities and inspiration in various metropolitan cities as a competitive boardrider turned creative/art director residing in Southern California.
Her life-long fascinations with world travel and Bohemian lifestyle were inspired by a father who was a globe-traveling rare European antiques & art dealer and mother extremely passionate about fashion, photography, who would sew her own children's clothing and sing them to sleep to songs of Joan Baez, Roberta Flack. Additionally a great-grandchild of an incredibly tenacious, bold Californian credited as the first woman in the Western United States to own and manage a retail department store—the family roots of entrepreneurship, values of hard work, independence and passions for creative development run deep here.
As a passionate creative greatly inspired by personal family history, she created The Sunset Sessions in 2013 initially as a lifestyle blog and lookbook of fashion editorials styled with wardrobe representative of a well-curated rare 60s-90s vintage collection e-boutique for both women and men. The Sunset Sessions expanded the following year into offering a special collection of California-made lifestyle knits, most specifically catering to young women passionate about boardriding and casual vintage-inspired designs, while simultaneously supporting other talented artists, designers, brands by providing creative resources, promotional platform. After a freelance contract turned into an in-house role—she realized the great need for more authentic clothing which youthful, "tomboy" minded women can relate to as they transcend out of skateparks, beaches into professional environments. The Sunset Sessions' fashion collection, style embodies just that—an homage to the "lady tomboy"...an independent and confident, active woman who wants little to do with wearing the same clothing as everyone else, and wants to feel physically comfortable in her wardrobe both literally & figuratively—yet meet and convey a mature, fashionable aesthetic as a modern woman.
From the blog to the boutique to all creative work developed—there is a consistent thread of passion for craftsmanship, authenticity, and social responsibility present.
Choosing vintage clothing is a responsible and socially-conscious way of adding to your wardrobe, while integrating authentic style. Each order from the online boutique also integrates a built-in charitable donation each month (please see shop header announcements for updated, current drive details.)
